On Perfection...
A Rambling Thought
Perfection.
There’s nothing quite like it.
Aiming and achieving are the standard paths of action. The ones we’re used to. Want to draw one hundred pictures? Achievable. Want to read a hundred books? Same. You want to spend a hundred hours making a perfect…anything? Can’t be done. You can’t please everyone and you can’t achieve that pleasing perfection for yourself. Especially not if you’re hungry for it.
Nothing in this world can exist without a flaw or two.
The way to exist peacefully with such a concept is to reconfigure it, or yourself.
To not let perfection overtake you is to think of it unlike anything else. A balancing act. A guide rather than a goal. You can’t achieve perfection, but you can’t ignore it.
Like a point to focus on ahead when you’re driving; to keep from misreading where you are on the road and veering off into a ditch. And you’re going to keep moving forward. When you’ve been driving long enough, your peripherals will start to take over and perfection won’t be such an obsession, if you can trust yourself enough to look away from it. I could even bring a speeding ticket analogy in here, you know, trying to get there too fast, but I’ll stop myself…heh.
That’s how I like to treat perfection anyway. I’m not there with art or writing, yet; someday but not yet. Most other things in my life though, they’ve handled this way of thinking well. I still struggle maintaining a healthy grasp on my expectations of perfection, but I’m not alone, and maybe this little ramble does something for you.
You have thoughts or is this a terrible way to function? Lol. I have a lot of those not-so-great ways. My current favorite is to set your alarm five minutes early when your snooze is set for ten. That way you wake up with a tidbit of panic; really sets the tone for the day.

I believe perfection is unachievable. I will always do my best but perfection doesn't exist. Its all in the eye of the beholder. I may think something needs work or is not right while someone else may think the same thing is "perfect." The Mona Lisa is considered perfect by many. A masterwork. And its amazing but I wonder if Da Vinci would have seen it has perfect, or would he have seen flaws?
